3D GENERALIST/MATTE PAINTER - VANCOUVER, BC Contract/In-House
Morphous Studios Inc is looking for a creative and talented artist to help develop an exciting project with one of its AAA clients. We are in search of a motivated individual with a broad range of experience covering 3D Environments & Matte Painting/BG assets. Here's your chance to put all of your passion and skills in one place.
1. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the following:
Communication vital to this position with all departments of production.
Defining and preparing 2D, 2.5D & 3D art assets for Vistas and non-gameplay areas
Experience with modeling and texturing a must
Owning the creation of art assets from start to finish, including placement of assets, adjusting materials or effects, all post work and optimization.
Ability and understanding of how to tune textures/plates/colors of VFX lighting, and/or adjusting actual art assets to best suit the artistic vision, etc.
- Actively develops skill set and abilities by keeping aware of industry trends and techniques, evaluating competitive products, learning new software packages and traditional art methods.
2. The ideal candidate will have a combination of the qualifications below:
A strong aesthetic and design sense for lighting – support the mood of the gameplay and story, how to use light and shadow as compositional tools, and how to direct the player’s eye
Technical expertise pre-rendered and in-engine lighting techniques is a plus
Experience tuning atmospherics for an environment (fog, basic particle systems or fog cards, etc.) is a plus
Knowledge of shaders and VFX a plus
Knowledge of the Unreal Engine a plus
